Soft Focus Portrait

The first of many photographs that I took at Comfest this year. Luckily I was able to take some really good portraits of people, but while I'm editing down which ones I like the most I thought I would throw one up on the net for everyone to see.

Opera Columbus BBQ Party 6-24-09

There are a ton of photos that I do like from this great opportunity, but for this first post I just am putting my absolute favorites. Not saying I don't like the others, but these ones resinate with me more.

Thank you again to Opera Columbus (especially Jeryl Simons) for inviting me to their special event and letting me take photographs of them while they kick off their brand new season of "Go Wild for the Opera" at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium!!!

Columbus Arts Festival June 6th and 7th

This weekend was the Columbus Arts Festival down in the Discovery District (AKA: at CCAD basically). It was wonderful and I had a great time walking around with Tomi and Tommy. It was also wonderful to get back into the mode of some heavy duty shooting. I can't wait for more events like this. It really inspires me to keep shooting. Not to mention the fact that my camera bag has now become my purse. That way I have a camera with me at all times.

Asian Festival and a little more.

This shot is one of my favorites. I just loved the fact that although the little girl in the background is out of focus....you still know that she is looking at the little boy who is doing the exact same thing (which you can tell by just the angle his head is at)

What is wonderful about this photograph is the man standing inside of the custom posing for me.

Some of the people that I did photograph who were dressed up I felt were very nice about it and actually did want their photo taken.

Some, not so much.

My new project

So, I have this great new idea for a doc project, but I just need some ideas how to get it off the ground.

My plan is to go back to Coshocton, Oh and document the changes that have occurred since I have moved. With this money business all going downhill....many things, and I mean many, have gone downhill in Coshocton and I feel that it is necessary to capture this moment in time.

Granted I realize the first step to everything is just to do this thing and drive there and take photos, but do you all think that I should call up people and ask to take portraits? Contact the Mayor possibly and see if he would be willing to get involved? Should I drive around and ask total strangers if I can take their portraits? Should I bring a recording device of sorts to get people's stories? Should I research the people who have worked at AK Steel, GE, Ansel Edmonts, and Pretty Products??

What do you all think would be the best course of action???
